Viton is a synthetic rubber and fluoropolymer elastomer

Viton is a brand of FKM, a synthetic rubber and fluoropolymer elastomer commonly used in seals, chemical-resistant gloves, and other molded or extruded goods.

Compared to most other elastomers, Viton is better able to withstand high temperatures, while simultaneously retaining its good mechanical properties. Compounds of Viton remain substantially elastic when exposed to laboratory air oven aging up to 204 deg. C or to intermittent exposures up to 316 deg. C.

The performance of Fluro elastomers in aggressive chemicals depends on the nature of the base polymer and the compounding ingredients used for molding the final products (e.g.O-Rings). ¨

Viton is generally compatible with hydrocarbons, but incompatible with Ketones such as Acetone and methyl ethyl ketone, ester solvents such as ethyl acetate, amines, and organic acids such as acetic acid.

  • Viton has outstanding resistance to a broad range of fluids.
  • Viton is highly resistant to a broad variety of fluids.
  • Is has outstanding resistance to compression set.

Viton seals are well known for their excellent heat resistance.

The temperature range of Viton (FKM/FPM) is considered to between -20 deg. C and +405 deg. C depending on the grade. It can take even higher or lower temperatures such as -30 deg. C/-45 deg. C and 230 deg. Cm but for short working periods.

The Viton sheet provides protection against alkalis and harsh acids. It is also true that the rubber sheet will also offer high resistance to chemicals whether harsh or mild.

Aerospace:

When it comes to the aerospace industry, it is used for different purposes like the O-Ring series, valve stem seals, lubricants, valve liners, flue duct exp. Joints, roll covers, sheets stock or cut gasket, fuel house, fuel injector O-Rings, and several others.

Industrial:

In the domain o industrial purposes, it is used in areas like hydraulic O-Ring seals and hydraulic systems, fuel tank bladders, manifold gaskets, firewall seals, gaskets, engine lube siphon fuel system seals and so on.

Automotive:

In the automotive industry, the application of the Viton is limitless.

It is used in the shaft seals, diaphragms and check valve valves, electrical connectors, military flare binders, fire vale steals seals and lathe cut-gaskets, clips for jet engines and several others.
